QuickBooks Online is Intuit's accounting platform, and for a great many contractors it is where invoicing ends up because the accountant already lives in it. Billing covers progress invoicing against an estimate, milestone and recurring invoices, 1099 handling and project profitability on Plus. Current US rates: Solopreneur $20, Simple Start $38, Essentials $85 and Plus $140 a month after the August 2026 increase, Advanced $340, with payment processing charged separately.
It earns its keep when books, taxes and job level margin matter more than field workflow. What it will not do is run the day: no dispatch board, no crew scheduling, no mobile flow a technician would enjoy. Price rises land almost every summer, and user caps (one on Simple Start, three on Essentials) push companies into a higher tier for reasons unrelated to accounting.
