Sela is a German percussion brand from Pommelsbrunn in Bavaria, a HAGE Musikverlag brand built up by Mark Westenberger. It got known for flat packed cajon kits: the box arrives as parts with tools and a method book, and an hour of work turns it into a playable snare cajon. Parts are made in Germany, bodies are birch, 11 layers and 15 mm thick on the CaSela, with a swappable playing surface, maple corners, clap corners and the removable Sela Snare System.
Sensible for beginners, workshop leaders and people who like building what they play. Handpans run from the Melody series up to Majesty, in Kurd, Amara, Pygmy and Minor tunings; custom builds from nine notes take about three months, a 50 percent deposit and roughly 200 euros per extra note. US buyers usually order through European shops such as Thomann or Music Store, so delivery and warranty take longer.
