A private quarry in the Wheeler Shale about an hour west of Delta, Utah, on Death Canyon Road, holding one of the richest known Cambrian trilobite deposits. Visitors split shale with a hammer and typically leave with ten to twenty trilobites for a full day, mostly Elrathia. Everything found is the guest's to keep, tools and buckets are loaned at the gate.

The season runs from late March to late October, the gate opens at 9 am and closes firmly at 6 pm, and anyone wanting an evening session has to be through the gate by 3:45 pm. Sundays are closed. The last stretch is graded dirt, passable in an ordinary car but slow. Bring water, food, gloves and sun cover: there is no shop, no shade and no phone signal to speak of. Splitting rock all day is honest work, not a stroll.
