Bear Archery Super Kodiak 60" Recurve Bow

Brand: Bear Archery

0

The Super Kodiak sits at the top of Bear's traditional range. The two piece riser is laid up from black and brown hard rock maple, limbs are overlaid with clear maple and faced with black fiberglass, and the tips are built up in black and white layers by hand. A Dynaflight 97 Flemish twist string comes fitted. Length is 60 inches, weights are offered from the mid 30s to 60 pounds, and the bow is quiet at the shot in a way glass heavy budget limbs rarely are.

This is a hunting bow for someone who already shoots off the shelf and wants the last word in fit and finish. It shoots smoothly at 28 inch draws and holds steady thanks to decent mass. What it does not offer is adjustability: no limb bolts to tune, no bushings, and the price tag runs into several hundred dollars, so beginners burn money on it before they know their draw weight.

Pros

  • Hard rock maple riser, hand layered tips
  • Dynaflight 97 Flemish string fitted
  • Quiet and smooth for a 60 inch bow
  • Weights into the 60 pound range
  • Holds resale value well

Cons

  • Costs several hundred dollars
  • No tuning bolts or accessory bushings
  • Wood needs care and dry storage
  • Heavy weights are back ordered often
