A four pound sawdust block already fully colonised with blue oyster mycelium, packed in a bag with a filter patch and shipped with a humidity tent. No soaking step: the bag is cut, the tent goes on, and the block is sprayed a few times a day until clusters form, usually inside two to three weeks. Substrate is USDA certified organic and the blocks are made in Maine.
Blue oyster prefers cooler conditions, roughly 13 to 20 degrees Celsius, which makes this a sensible pick for autumn and winter growing or an unheated room. Several flushes are realistic if the block is rehydrated between them. Less suited to hot rooms, where the strain stalls or fruits thin and pale.
