Avalanche Canada is the non-profit that issues public avalanche forecasts for most of the mountains of British Columbia and Alberta, plus partner regions in the Yukon. Its free app carries the full bulletin: danger ratings split across alpine, treeline and below treeline, the avalanche problems behind those ratings, the forecaster's confidence and the written discussion. Forecasts can be cached before leaving service, and weather station data sits alongside them. The Mountain Information Network lets users post field observations with photos, which other parties see the same day.

Best suited to anyone touring, sledding or ice climbing in western Canada, and free of any paywall. Outside Canada it is useless, and coverage stops at the edges of the forecast regions, so trips into unforecast terrain still demand independent judgement. The season typically runs from late November into April.
