White Risk
White Risk is the avalanche platform of the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos, published with Suva. It delivers the Swiss bulletin in interactive form, updated in the late afternoon and refreshed the following morning, together with snow depth and new snow maps, automatic station measurements and field feedback. Four modules cover reference material, e-learning, tour planning and professional tools; the planning module combines routes with slope steepness classes and a reduction method check.
The bulletin and basic maps are free in the app, while the planning and offline map features sit behind a subscription. Strongest for the Swiss Alps and for people who want to learn the theory properly rather than just read a danger number. Those touring elsewhere in Europe will need a second source, since coverage does not extend past Switzerland.
