Bresser is a German optics maker in Rhede, North Rhine-Westphalia, founded in 1957 by Josef Bresser as a binocular importer and run from 1979 by his son Rolf. Today it employs over 100 people at the Rhede site and keeps sales companies in the Netherlands, France, the UK, Spain and the USA. The catalogue covers telescopes, including the Messier series for keen amateurs, microscopes, binoculars, weather stations and, since 2016, action cameras. Bresser belongs to the JOC group, which also owns its long-standing Chinese supplier Jinghua Optics, so design, production and distribution sit under one roof.
A practical choice for beginners and intermediate observers who want European service and spare parts rather than a no-name box. The Junior line targets children, while serious astrophotographers usually outgrow the supplied mounts and eyepieces and start swapping parts fairly early.
